I’m having a little holiday this week because we have visitors staying. So I’ll just leave you this pretty white gaura (Oenothera lindheimeri, AKA Lindheimer’s beeblossom). It’s a great plant for flowering profusely right up until the frosts start and a favourite of mine.

It’s a post-and-run this week because we have visitors staying with us. So no time for photography and gardening this week. Instead, here are the flowers of Centaurea montana (perennial cornflower), which usually start to appear in May. Hopefully I will still have time to move some of the plants to new positions before that happens…when I eventually get back to the garden!

It’s the last bit of glorious weather here, so I am doing a post-and-run so that I can spend the time outside. Astrantia is still flowering in October. Its pale colours are a contrast with the dark astrantia flowers of this post.

I’m taking a short break this week and reposting an image from 2019. I’ve had very little time for photography because I’ve been too busy enjoying the company of friends who came to stay. (We did have the chance to sit out in the garden and enjoy the flowers though!)

(Almost) Silent Sunday: Passionflower

I’m having a little break this week because a very dear friend who lives a long way away has come to stay. Lots of fun and friendship here, but not much attention for the garden for a little while. Back to normal next week! 🙂

I cannot find the words to express how I feel about the evil of the war being made on Ukraine by Putin and the Kremlin. My heart is full of grief and rage at the terrible sufferings of the brave Ukrainian people. Yellow and blue – the colours of the Ukrainian flag – will always stand for courage.

Slava Ukraini!
