I love them too, Jude, but don’t really have room or good enough soil (though I’m working on improving the soil). I’d be delighted to have this one in the garden!

Though peonies are the only genus in their own botanical family, the center of this flower reminds me of the center of a buttercup.

I love this sort of open centre on a flower, partly because of how it looks, but mostly because it’s so easy for the bees to get at. (Wish this one was in my garden!)

Does something prevent one like this from occupying your garden?

Mostly space, Steve…like many gardeners, I pack as much in as I can to a fairly small area. But there’s always the possibility of finding a space in the future if I have to replace something…or dig up more of the grass! (Our ‘lawn’ has got much smaller over the years, but I think Hubby would like to keep some, hehe!)

Are those two-toned stamens? Both yellow and magenta? I might have seen such a thing in the past, but I don’t remember that. The touch of magenta on the petals is nice, as well.

That is how it looks to me too…magenta on the filaments and yellow anthers. Those magenta splashes on the petals really appeal to me and I reckon it’s one of the loveliest peonies I’ve seen.
