(Almost) Silent Sunday: Clematis

NB: A note for WordPress Reader users – you need to click on the title of the post again to come out of the reader and go to the post itself. This allows you to see the whole of the top photograph. (Otherwise you may see just a tiny section!)

It’s a quick post-and-run from me this week, with a couple of photos of clematis seen earlier in the summer. (I think it was June – I’m a bit shocked by how quickly this hot summer seems to be passing.) Instead of writing, I’m trying to catch up with some of the work in the garden, now that it’s cool enough to get out there. It won’t be easy because the dried-out soil is almost like concrete! So it may be a slow process…🥀

    1. Clematis have a gorgeous array of colours, so they do tend to grab my attention. I’d love to grow more of them in my own garden, if only I could find suitable spaces for them… 🙂

    1. The flowers in the top picture are a lovely shape and unusual for clematis, so I can see why you first thought they might be lilies. It could be interesting to see what it would look like in combination with a similarly coloured (or contrasting) lily.

    1. I think it must be because it does look just like photos of ‘Princess Diana’, but, because it was in a garden I visited, I can’t know for sure. It’s pretty though! (The white and purple combination makes Princess Kate even prettier in my eyes, so it’s the one I’d plant here.)

    1. We’re pretty desperate for rain here, but at last there is some forecast for next week. I just hope that the forecast doesn’t change – it’s so frustrating when the promised rain disappears! I’m keeping my fingers crossed too! 🙂
